Nuova Associazione Amici di Sant’Angelo

The cultural soul of Sant’Angelo

Founded in 1980, the Nuova Associazione Amici di Sant’Angelo was established with the aim of promoting and enhancing the image of the village and the island of Ischia, spreading its culture, history, and traditions throughout the world.
Over the years, the Association has built a path of events, publications, and collaborations that have made Sant’Angelo a recognized symbol of Mediterranean beauty and island identity.

Among its most significant initiatives are the prestigious Premio Sant’Angelo, an event dedicated to leading figures in communication, art, and sport, and the Premio Pablo Neruda, organized in 2004 under the patronage of the Embassy of Chile to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the Nobel Prize-winning poet, who stayed in Sant’Angelo in 1952.
The Association has also published the volume “Sant’Angelo d’Ischia. Storia, Immagini, Poesie”, created a web portal dedicated to the village, and managed an Info Point service during the summer season.

Over time, the Association has received support from institutional bodies such as the Ministry of Tourism, Regione Campania, EPT, Naples Chamber of Commerce, Comtur, and the Autonomous Board of Care and Stay of Ischia and Procida and the Municipality of Serrara Fontana, confirming its role as a cultural and tourism reference point for the area.

Over the years, the stage of the Premio Sant’Angelo has welcomed personalities such as Biagio Agnes, Renzo Arbore, Rocco Barocco, Franco Bucarelli, and artists of the calibre of Lucio Dalla, Malika Ayane, Giusy Ferreri, Peppe Barra, Enzo Avitabile, Teresa De Sio, and many others.
Guests of honour such as Trudie Styler, Mariangela Melato, and Tony Renis have helped make the event one of national importance, covered by major media outlets and television networks.

In recent years, in collaboration with the Municipality of Serrara Fontana, the Association has taken part in the project “Dal Monte Epomeo al Borgo Marinaro di Sant’Angelo”, a programme of events and concerts dedicated to culture and music.
In 2025, on the occasion of the ninetieth anniversary of the birth of Fred Bongusto, an honorary citizen of the village, an event evening was organized in his honour.

Since June 2025, the Association has been officially registered in the RUNTS – National Single Register of the Third Sector (Regione Campania, decree no. 1040), continuing its mission of cultural and social promotion with renewed commitment.
